About the library

Is the cellular phone an influencing factor on road accidents? What is the extent of involvement of young drivers in roads accidents? How does transportation influence the environment?

Answers to these questions and many others, are found in the unique collection of the library of the Transportation Institute at the Technion. The Institute’s library is the most extensive library in Israel in the fields of road safety and transportation. The library, which is supported by the The National Road Safety Authority and the Ministry of Transport, serves as a national information center in subjects of road safety and transportation.

The collection includes above 40,000 publications, 4,000 of which are books.

Most of the collection is consisted of reports of Transportation Research Institutes around the world, including publications of the Transportation Research Institute (from the year 1967 onwards).

The library is also subscribed for the main transportation journals in the world, in part as electronic journals.

The collection also includes publications of the Ministry of Transport, of the Transportation Research and Planning Institute, booklets about road safety issues for elementary schools and high schools, statistics from various countries and statistics from the Central Bureau of Statistics (Israel).

In addition the library also includes more than 150 CD’s of conferences and papers in the fields of transportation and road safety.
